PONDA: The army recruitment drive at 6 Technical Training Regiment (TTR) ground at Curti-Ponda evoked good response on Wednesday.
Addressing a news conference at Curti-Ponda, Deputy Director General Recruiting Zone Pune Brigadier M K Khajuria said the army recruitment drive conducted for South Goa at 6TTR Military Camp ground at Curti evoked good response with about 259 youth in the age group of 17 to 25 years participating in various physical tests.
“About 1,000 more candidates are expected to attend the recruitment drive for North Goa at Government Polytechnic College Mayem-Bicholim on Thursday,” informed Brig Khajuria.
Brig Khajuria said the recruitment directorate controlling states of Maharashtra, Goa and Gurjarat is based at Pune and is headed by him and under his office seven Army Recruiting Office (ARO) conducts 14 recruitment drives every year. Motivational lectures are also delivered at college level, urging the youth to join the army.
“The main aim behind conducting the drive is to generate employment for youth in Goa so that they can join the prestigious Indian Army and serve the nation. The recruitment drive in Goa is held after two years, with the last being held in 2012, which had evoked poor response.”
