PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Thursday that all farmers who lost their crop due to heavy rains will get compensation before Ganesh Chaturthi as has been promised.
Speaking to mediapersons at Mantralaya at Porvorim, the Chief Minister said, “I had promised on the floor of the House that money will be transferred to accounts directly. The Agriculture Director has already started working on it. Even permission has been given to sanction Rs 75 lakh as there are some farmers who do not have Kisan Cards. Even those who do not have Krishi Cards they too will get compensation.”
“Special arrangements have been made for those farmers who do not have Kisan Cards. They will also be paid before Ganesh Chaturthi. Chawath of all farmers will be good,” he said.
During the monsoon session of the State Assembly, the Chief Minister had assured the House that farmers whose fields have been damaged due to incessant rain will be compensated ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi. He had also promised to resolve all the previous pending cases.
He had noted that most of the time, technical issues, such as missing documents, complicate the compensation process, as farmers are required to submit affidavits in such cases.
