PONDA: The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) organised a protest demanding stricter laws against crimes on minor girls and women.
Sumedha Naik explained the purpose of the demonstration followed by speakers stating that safety of women has become a significant national issue.
The Samiti called for the implementation of a 'Love Jihad Prevention Act' in Goa. It said that the statistics show an increase in crimes against minor girls in Goa from 2019 to 2023. The protest highlighted the need for harsher punishments, including public execution, emasculation, or dismemberment of rapists.
The Samiti also emphasised the importance of self-defence training for girls and boys and called for stricter control over obscene films and web series on OTT platforms.
