PORVORIM: Speaking about the need to change tourists’ perceptions, Khaunte stressed the need to address fears and anxieties related to taxi services and water sports activities.
Khaunte stated, “We need political support to regulate taxi services and water sports activities. We want our taxi operators to come on board with the Goa Taxi app.” He further added, “As a government, we will support water sports operators. Some of Goa's taxi operators are sending tours of snorkeling and scuba to Malvan. If we find any individual selling water sports at Malvan or Karwar in Goa, we will take action. Our own taxi operators are engaged in this practice."
The Minister highlighted the government's efforts in curbing illegal activities, stating, “In the last year, we arrested 465 touts and collected a fine of Rs 13 lakh. We are also working towards implementing stricter laws to tackle illegal touting.”
