Bicholim Dy Collector cautions locals  of COVID second wave

BICHOLIM: Bicholim Deputy Collector Deepak Vaingankar has called upon people to strictly adopt due measures to stop and avoid the spread of COVID-19 second wave. 

Adressing a press conference at Bicholim, Vaingankar also cautioned the vendors selling different kinds of goods to wear masks and also create awareness amongst the people about wearing masks and maintain social distancing to avoid the spread of Coronavirus which may consequently stop the rising number of death toll due to corona virus.  

He also called upon government officials of all the concern departments to adopt strict measures in case anybody finds neglecting the SOP's drafted by the state goverment authorities. He added that, a fine of Rs 200 will be imposed on the people violating the norms drafted to avoid the spread of corona virus. 

He told that as compared to other cities the spread of Coronavirus in Bicholim taluka is within control. “If somebody including the shops and the business establishments found not obeying to the said norms their licences may be cancelled permanently" added Vaingankar. 

He asked people to go for instant check up if they found themselves symptomatic and to opt for strict home isolation. 

He also urged people not to send children below 10 years and the senior citizens above 65 years in the crowded areas. 

He directed police to fine the people if found not wearing masks and to intensify the patrolling in the market and the border check posts areas. He added that, traditional festivities of people cannot be stopped, but it is the duty of the temple committees organising the festivities to avoid the crowd and also the duty of the people not to go in the crowded areas. 

He said all government machineries are striving hard under the instruction of Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to avoid the spread of Coronavirus and hence it is the duty of the people to co-operate with the government. 

Health officer of Mayem PHC Dr. Siddhi Kansar brought to the notice of Vaingankar about migrants not following the SOP's and demanded to take strict measures against them. She also raised concern over the attitude of youngsters who stay in groups at different places during evening time and stated that the same should be avoided. Bicholim PSI Kishore Ramanan was also present for the press conference.
