MARGAO: BJP Scheduled Tribes (ST) Morcha appealed to members of the community not to be divided by the misinformation spread by some political leaders and to stay united.
Addressing a press conference, Anthony Barbosa, Vice-President of the ST Morcha, appreciated Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Sandanand Tanavade for once again raising the demand for political reservation for the ST community in the Goa Legislative Assembly.
“In the past, many have made allegations against the BJP and its leaders for not taking steps to secure political reservation for the ST community in the Goa assembly. However, now they have failed to appreciate the efforts of the MP,” he stated.
He emphasized that it is the BJP that has the capability to deliver political reservation for the ST community and noted that the initiatives undertaken for the ST community have predominantly occurred during the BJP's tenure.
Prabhakar Gaonkar, President of the BJP ST Morcha, expressed confidence that the ST community will achieve political reservation in the State Assembly.
“The BJP party strongly believes that the ST community deserves recognition in the political arena," he stated.
Suresh Kepekar, ZP member, alleged that the Congress party and their MLAs are making baseless statements without taking practical steps.
He accused the Congress of misleading the people, particularly the ST community, and diverting public attention away from the issue.
