Bogmalo's heart-shaped lake now a 'den' for anti-socials

VASCO: The heart-shaped lake at Bogmalo, which was once a famous destination, especially for youth, has now turned into a “den” for anti-social elements to carry out illegal activities.
For the past several days the residents have been complaining that the lake is frequented by anti-social elements who consume liquor and other addictive substances at the site.
According to sources, the spot has turned into an ideal place for couples, college dropouts, anti-social elements and drug addicts.
However such activities have thrived here as there is no police patrolling in area due to its secluded location. To add to this, the hilly area lacks a protective wall.
Bogmalo sarpanch Virginia Rodrigues said she has not been to the spot and is unaware of the anti-social activities taking place at the site. However, she assured to look into the matter.
Panch Sankalp Mahale stressed the need to conserve and preserve the natural beauty of the heart-shaped lake, which falls in Chicolna Bogmalo panchayat jurisdiction.
He said the lake is tourist attraction and people from various places come here to enjoy its beauty. But at the same time it is sad to see the youth involved in malpractices. He requested the people to maintain the spot clean.
