PANJIM: Stating that the State budget will help everyone and all sectors, the BJP leaders lauded Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for presenting a budget that exceeded all expectations.
Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar was effusive in his praise for the CM and spoke about how the public will benefit from various aspects of the budget.
He gave the example of the measures announced in some of his departments like Agriculture and Archives, which would allow Goa to take greater strides keeping in mind the future challenges.
Ex-MP Narendra Sawaikar concurred with Kavlekar about the thrust in agriculture. He explained how the budget helps ease the tension of sugarcane farmers given that steps were announced on supporting the beleaguered Sanjivani sugar factory.
“Hearty congratulations to Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for presenting a budget for the development of all sections of the society and for an Aatmanirbhar & Swayampurna Goem laying emphasis on infrastructure, education, health, human development, etc,” he added.
State BJP president Sadanand Shet Tanavade said, “Congratulations to the CM of Goa Pramod Sawant for presenting a progressive budget, which outlines the government’s vision of building a new and confident Goa with a strong focus on bringing a qualitative change in people’s lives following the true concept of Antyodaya.”
He said people from the marginalised sector would benefit and singled out the decision to set up a mining corporation as a bold one that would change the dynamics of the industry saddled with various problems.
Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said it was a step in the right direction. He referred to the recent launch of electric buses by KTCL and what the Chief Minister said in his budget about the same. He said the initiative would help the State generate revenue amongst other schemes announced.
Other ministers expressed similar views.
