MAPUSA: Dinesh Simepurushkar was on Monday elected unopposed as the sarpanch of Calangute Panchayat. It may be recalled that the post had fallen vacant after Francis D’Souza stepped down as per the mutual understanding among the ruling group.
"Door-to-door collection of garbage has started. However, the panchayat will conduct a survey of house-to-house garbage collection and I appeal people to cooperate. Works which were not taken in 15 years have been completed in the last three years. Beautification, hot mixing, Children’s Park at Sautawado will be taken up soon. New police station and power substation projects in Calangute have been proposed," Simepurushkar informed.
