
PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has sealed the Cine National Theatre building terming it unsafe.
In a notice served to M/S Rao and Company, CCP Commissioner Clen Madeira, GCS, said, ''The Cine National Theatre Building is hereby sealed. The general public are also cautioned and informed not to enter, loiter, park vehicles in and around the theatre building and the Corporation of the City of Panaji, Panaji, Goa will not own any responsibility in the event of occurrence of any untoward event.''
''(Through) this notice u/s 272(1) of the City of Panaji the Corporation Act 2002 is hereby issued to you to forthwith remove yourself and your belongings if any from the said building from the affixation of this notice and you are also directed u/s 272(3) of the City of Panaji the Corporation Act 2002 not to enter and or remain in the said theatre building,'' Madeira said.
Madeira has said that during the technical section of the Corporation of the City of Panaji, it was noticed that the building was in a dilapidated condition and posed danger to occupants and the general public as well.
''It has also been noticed that there are huge trees which are presently standing on the dilapidated structure and it was decided to seek a structural stability certificate of the building. The Corporation of the City of Panaji has sought and obtained the building fitness of condition survey report of the the building from the consultant engineer of Government Polytechnic, Altinho, which reported that the building has outlived its economic life and is presently in a in distressed condition and is in a state of disrepair, with structural defects and is in a substandard condition and that presently the said building is unsafe for human occupation,'' he has said.
