PANJIM: For stray and abandoned canines, the upcoming Carnival festival could provide them permanent homes. In a first initiative, the Corporation of City of Panaji (CCP) will set up a stray dog adoption zone in a bid to inspire animal lovers to look after the stray dogs and rehabilitation them.
“There’s an added attraction this Carnival. We have decided to set up a stall for adoption of stray dogs. These furry stray are vaccinated, fed well and treated ready for adoption. You can give them a home,” CCP Commissioner Agnelo Fernandes said at a press conference on Tuesday while making an appeal to animal lovers to make use of this opportunity. The decision was taken following requests from the people including animal lovers.
