If has become a fashion for miscreants to dump garbage by the roadside at Tivim. Household waste, broken bottles, sanitary pads, coconut shells, fish and even food waste is placed in plastic bags and dumped by the road-side. With the nauseating smell its difficult to even breathe here. Flies start breeding here and sometimes stray dogs and crows feast on the waste and carry it from one place to another. Very often the poor stray cows end up eating the waste in plastic and get chocked. There are instances when the poor animals can't digest plastic and end up dying. The absence of dwindling grazing grounds often lead bovines to forage for food in the garbage dump. It is time the village panchayat of Tivim places garbage bins here and penalise those dumping garbage by the roadside. Time to save us environment from being polluted.
