PANJIM: Alleging job scam in the Legal Metrology Department, the opposition Congress on Tuesday demanded that all the posts be scrapped and the concerned Minister be sacked immediately.
The Congress also warned to launch State-wide agitation if the government fails to scrap the posts and Legal Metrology Minister Felipe Neri Rodrigues is dropped from the Cabinet.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar said that the BJP government is all out to deprive government jobs to the qualified and deserving youth of Goa. The results announced by the Legal Metrology Department for the posts of inspectors have revealed that the personal assistant to the Minister had scored full 100 marks superseding other qualified candidates. This exposes the job scam in the Legal Metrology Department, he said demanding that the all the posts be scraped.
According to Chodankar, in all 1128 candidates had answered the exam for the post of inspector of the Legal Metrology Department. The written exams were conducted on September 26 and the marklist was published by the principal of Government Polytechnic, Panjim on November 19 with marks of 1126 candidates.
The GPCC president said that four candidates including Bhupendra Dessai, who is personal assistant to the Minister scored 100 out of 100 marks. The other candidates who scored 100 marks were Azen Rio Rodrigues from Dramapur- Salcete, Aditya Parab from Kothambi-Pale and Colaco Swezel Urminda from Raia-Salcete.
“This is just a tip of the iceberg. We will further probe into the results in detail and ensure that the deserving qualified and eligible candidates get justice,” Chodankar said appealing to the youth not to fall prey for the fake promises of the BJP government.
“The Congress government after coming back to power in 2022 elections will scrap all the illegal appointments done by the BJP government and provide jobs only to deserving, qualified and eligible candidates,” he said.
