BICHOLIM: Ex Congress General General Secretary Khemlo  Sawant has said if incumbent GPCC President Amit Patkar continues in office till  the next Assembly Election, then Congress candidates will not win a single seat. He made this startling statement on Thursday at a press conference.

Sawant who is presently a member of the Congress alleged that Patkar does not allow any Congressman to do work anywhere, especially in Sanquelim Constituency. He said that the party secured over 11,000 votes in the Assembly Elections 2022. However in the Lok Sabha elections the votes were hardly above 3000. No post mortem was done on why this happened.

"If Congress party has to win over 20 seats, he (Patkar) will have to be removed. I feel that if he manages to stall till 2027, Congress may come down to zero (seats)"

So like minded people are is planning to launch Sankhali Yuva Morcha without leaving the Congress, by uniting all the anti BJP forces and those from rom the Congress.

Asked whether the fact that Patkar is not allowing to do any work anywhere in the state was told to the Central emissaries, Sawant said that this is already been told to the Congress National representatives. Both the national leaders who visited Goa -- Manikrao Thackerey and Dr Anjali Nimbalkar have been told about this.

"We have clearly told the party leaders, remove Patkar and then see the work of the party. Till the time he is removed no one will do party work and it will not happen. In 2022, Congress had won 11 MLAs of which 8 left the party. Why they left has not been inquired into," Sawant told media on Thursday.
