
PANJIM: The daily COVID-19 positivity rate dropped further on Friday, even though the number of cases witnessed a marginal surge in last 24-hours. As many as 315 new Coronavirus cases were detected at a positivity rate of 7.83 per cent.
On Thursday, State had recorded 254 cases having positivity rate of 8.6 per cent- below ten percent- lowest since last over two months. In mid-May, every second person getting tested, was found positive for the deadly infection- the situation which begun to improve in last three weeks- with State-wide curfew in force.
Also, for the second consecutive day, a total of six patients were declared dead due to the infection led co-morbidities. The day also saw, 534 people getting recovered thus bringing down active case count to 3,599.
As per the health bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), of the total 4,020 samples tested on Friday, 315 were found positive, taking the COVID-19 caseload to 1,63,927.
State’s recovery rate stood at 95.99 per cent with as many as 1,57,353 getting cured from the infection.
With six more deaths, the State’s mortality count stood at 2,975. As per DHS, three deaths were reported at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC) while one each at South Goa District Hospital, North Goa District Hospital and one at a private hospital, North Goa.
