Cutbona workers deaths aftermath: Water will be tested before supplying to jetty, say Fisheries Dept
Five workers died of Diarhoea at Cutbona due to poor sanitation and lack of supervision by the Fisheries and Health Department.
Anchor: With regards to the deteriorating condition of the Cutbona jetty, Fisheries dept stated that all the bore wells which supply water to tanks will be tested in the laboratory by fisheries department. The department has also instructed all the boat owners to remove their unused boats from the jetty and to maintain hygiene.
The decisions were taken during the meeting by the Fisheries Department, Dy Collector Ganesh Bharve with the Cutbona jetty boats owners on Monday in the wake of 5 deaths and cholera outbreak in the Cutbona Jetty due to lack of hygiene. The new director of fisheries Yashaswini P and Secretary Fisheries E.Vallavan visited the jetty and later interacted with the stakeholders and boat owners using the jetty.
