The bus stop near the Bambolim stadium is still dark, despite numerous pleas from commuters over the past three years, raising concerns about public safety. Street lights have been supported by electricity poles, but because there is no electricity connection, the fixtures are inoperable. Residents and commuters who are displeased have called attention to the urgent need to upgrade the area's lighting. Many residents use the stretch on a daily basis due to the close proximity of the Goa Dental College and the Goa Medical College (GMC), and Hospital.
It's extremely dangerous, especially for women traveling alone. Because there is no lighting, it is extremely dangerous. We feel like we're being ignored

There are about fifty light poles arranged in a row along this busy stretch that runs from the stadium to a well-known restaurant. Yet, these fixtures have not been working since several years.
"Only during major events when the stadium's floodlights are operational is the road lit up. An employee at GMC stated, "No action has been taken to restore the lighting despite numerous incidents and women safety campaigns", she adds, further stating, "this place is regularly frequented by anti-social groups made up of local youth who drink alcohol, which makes us feel more insecure,".
