PANJIM: The Goa State Election Commission (GSEC) has started delimitation exercise for Taleigao village panchayat.

The draft delimitation proposal prepared by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) dividing the Taleigao Village Panchayat area into wards for ensuing general election of the panchayat has been kept open for public scrutiny from February 29 to March 9, 2024.

In a notice, the Goa State Election Commission has said, “In exercise of the powers conferred under Section 7 of Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994, the Goa State Election Commission initiated the task of dividing the village panchayat area into wards for ensuring general election to village panchayat Taleigao in Tiswadi, North Goa, District, Goa. The Mamlatdar of Tiswadi taluka is appointed as the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Awal Karkun in Office of Mamlatdar Tiswadi Taluka is appointed as Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AEROs) to carry out the delimitation task.”

“The draft delimitation proposal prepared by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will be kept in the office of the ERO and also in the office of the Talathi of Village Panchayat Taleigao from February 29, 2024, to March 9, 2024, except on March 3, 2024, being Sunday for general public so as to submit their suggestions/ modifications/corrections pertaining to the delimitation of panchayat wards,” the notice said.

The general public can access the draft delimitation proposal of the Village Panchayat Taleigao at the ERO office and at the office of the Talathi of Taleigao Village Panchayat during office hours, the notice issued by Venancio Furtado, Secretary, Goa State Election Commission, said.
