Filling of fields continue despite complaint

MAPUSA: The illegal filling of fields on comunidade land at Nachinola-Ucassaim continues even as a complaint against it sits before the deputy collector of Bardez. Members of the Ucassaim Comunidade alleged that more than 600 sq mts of land had been filled with the blessings of a certain politician. Temporary structures were also erected.

The Talathi report of June 2010, in survey number 57/7 of Ucassaim, stated that fields were illegally filled in particular places by Sagar Api Maulankar. Based on the report, local NGO 'Nachinola Village Welfare Forum’ filed a complaint before the Bardez deputy collector. A judgement is yet to be made.

“The area of filling at the time of inspection by Talathi and present area will differ if the deputy collector asks for fresh inspection,” said Cosme Martin, a local.
