MARGAO: The five accused in the horrific abduction and rape case at Cansaulim, have been remanded to 7 days police custody. The accused will be kept in custody at the Margao Police Station lockup.

Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant told Herald Media, that Police have asked the RTO to cancel the Rent a Car licence of the vehicle which was used to commit the crime. They have also asked the Tourism Department to cancel the licence of the Cansaulim guest house which was used to rape the victim.

In a horrific act, a mentally challenged girl was brutally gangraped by five accused in a flat at Cansaulim. Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother with the Fatorda Police, multiple teams were formed and a massive hunt was launched. The police through digital mapping and scientific investigation arrested all the five accused within two hours.

The heinous crime unfolded when the main accused identified as Adil Algur, (18), from Chicalim, enticed and befriended the mentally challenged girl, abducted her from the Margao KTC bus stand and travelled by bus to Vasco bus stand.

From Vasco bus stand, Adil allegedly made the victim pillion ride the scooter and took her to the Dabolim junction. He then contacted his four accomplices identified as Mohammed Ali Mulla (22) from Mangor Hill-Vasco, Shahzad Shaikh (18) from Khariwaddo, Vasco, Viresh Aguanda, (18) from Vasco and Mohammed Yasir Shaikh (18) from Bogda Vasco, who arrived in a four-wheeler.

They then took the victim to a flat in Cansaulım, where Adil allegedly raped the victim, followed by the other accused persons who committed the heinous act by taking advantage of her vulnerable mental condition. The girl was abandoned at the Verna junction.
