MARGAO: In a horrific incident, a mentally challenged girl from Fatorda was kidnapped and raped in a Cansaulim guest house. Five migrant labourers committed the heinous crime. Fatorda Police arrested Adil Lalsab Algur, aged18, Mohammed Ali Mulla aged 22, Shahzad Shaikh aged 18, Viresh Aguanda aged 18, and Mohammed Shaikh aged 18, all outsiders, but presently residents of Vasco.
According to police sources, one accused befriended her at the Margao bus stand and took her to Vasco. He then called four other is friends from Vasco in a jeep. They took the mentally challenged girl to a guest house in Cansaulim and gang raped her, Sunita Sawant, SP south told media.
The incident occurred on the night intervening 22nd and 23rd January 2025. Varsha Sharma DIG, Goa Police told media that digital mapping and CCTC Camera footage was used to track the accused. It was a blind case, she stated. Police teams were formed by SP South and the accused were traced promptly by the South Goa Police.
Bailancho Ekvott Convenor Auda Viegas expressed shock that this is happening in Goa. She said a woman should be free to move after dark since many women a medical professions, police officers and working on night duty. She also praised the police for the quick action.
