VALPOI: The Gaonkars of the Ajoba Devasthan in Keri, Sattari have demanded action against the temple’s managing committee for allegedly damaging the throne in the sanctorum of the temple.
In this regard, a complaint was also lodged with the Sattari Joint Mamletdar Sanjivani Satardekar and Valpoi police station.
Later speaking to media persons, Ankush Gawas accused the managing committee of acting illegally in organising the Shigmo festival without proper documentation and also attempting to deprive the Gaonkars from celebrating the festival.
Gawas stated that a law and order problem about 10 years ago had led the government to lock the temple and rituals at the temple had been stopped since then
The government later constituted an ad hoc committee and it was directed to conduct elections to the managing committee.
Election to the managing committee was conducted on January 10, but the Gaonkars did not take part in this election. They claimed that the annual general body meeting should have been conducted before undertaking rituals at the temple.
The Gaonkars also accused the managing committee of failing to follow the temple guidelines and making efforts to celebrate the Shigmo festival.
