Goa Medical College Dean: Guillain Barre Syndrome Not a Threat in Goa

BAMBOLIM: Goa Medical College Dean Dr. Shivanand Bandekar has said Guillain Barre syndrome or adult polio as it is called is not a threat in Goa. He said we receive about one or two cases a month in Goa and we treat it without our advanced machines. The disease is endemic to Parts of Maharashtra and Pune. He explained the symptoms of the disease which results in upward paralysis.  

Dr Bandekar explaining the preventive measures which can be taken to avoid the disease, said there is no vaccine for the disease unlike polio.  Simple hygiene before eating can prevent the disease.
