At the ongoing assembly session, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao has alleged that live gambling activities are taking place in onshore casinos in Goa, raising concerns over the enforcement of gambling regulations. Alemao claimed that these casinos are operating beyond the legal limits, potentially compromising the state’s efforts to regulate the gambling industry.
In response, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant rejected these allegations, asserting that the government conducts regular inspections of onshore casinos to ensure compliance with the law. Sawant emphasized that any casino found violating regulations faces strict action, including the suspension of licenses for those caught indulging in illegal practices.
He assured that the authorities are committed to maintaining transparency and upholding the legal framework surrounding the casino industry in Goa. The CM's statement aims to reassure the public and stakeholders that the government is actively monitoring the sector to prevent any unlawful activities.
