On the occasion of National Fire Service Day 2025, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded the efforts of Goa Fire & Emergency Services (FES), revealing that the department has saved property worth over ₹44 crore and 398 lives in the past year.
Addressing personnel and officials at the commemorative event, CM Sawant also announced that Goa is the first state in India to have established 11 fully operational cyclone shelters, significantly enhancing the state’s disaster preparedness.
In a major welfare boost for fire personnel, the Chief Minister declared that a Fire Risk Allowance will now be granted to firefighters in recognition of the risks they take in the line of duty. “Our firefighters are the unsung heroes who put their lives on the line every day. Their dedication deserves not only appreciation but also proper compensation,” Sawant stated.
The event underscored Goa’s growing focus on disaster response infrastructure and the importance of continued support for emergency service personnel.
