
PANJIM: Goa Today magazine, founded in 1965, on Tuesday, announced pausing of its publication from May 31.
Magazine Chairman Dattaraj V Salgaocar stated, “It is with great sadness that I am sharing the news about the pausing of publication of Goa Today. Over the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected the economy and us all in many unimaginable ways. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart and sorrow that we have decided to pause the publication and operations of the magazine.”
Salgaocar thanked all the editors from the late Vamanbab Sardessai, late Norman Dantas, Lambert Mascarenhas, Manohar Shetty, Ashwin Tombat and especially Vinayak Naik. “I would also like to thank each and every employee and writer past and present, who have been associated with Goa Today as well as the advertisers and well-wishers who have steadfastly supported us over the years”, he said.
Salgaocar further added that, “The advent of electronic and digital media era over the past decade has had an influence on all walks of life and print media is not insulated from the same”.
“It is in this background along with the harsh realities of the post COVID-19 pandemic that we are forced to pause the publication of Goa Today effective May 31, 2021. We are evaluating all probable options/formats for Goa Today in future and shall be consulting all our well-wishers and stakeholders to determine the best way forward”.
