In a major crackdown, officials from the Civil Supplies and Legal Metrology Department raided an illegal LPG storage unit in Saligao, seizing 164 cylinders of various types.
The seized stock included 42 sealed cylinders, 32 counterfeit commercial cylinders, one domestic counterfeit cylinder, and numerous empty cylinders. Authorities said the unit was operating without authorization, posing a serious risk to public safety.
Officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace the source of the counterfeit cylinders and identify those involved in the illegal operation. Strict action is expected against the offenders under provisions of the Essential Commodities Act and other applicable laws.
The raid highlights the government’s continued vigilance against illegal LPG distribution networks, which endanger lives and disrupt the regulated supply chain.
