2 held in connection with murder of 11-year-old boy at Sankhali

BICHOLIM: The Bicholim police have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of a 11-year-old boy at Vithalapur, Sankhali, by smashing his head with a stone.

The accused who have been arrested in connection with the murder have been identified as Chandu Patil (30) from Shegao, Maharashtra and Bhim Salman, a native of Uttar Pradesh.

According to police, Chandu, who was working in a cattle shed at Vithalapur, was removed from the job by the shed owner and replaced by a worker from Uttar Pradesh.

Deceased Samir was the brother of the UP worker. The two brothers had come to Sanquelim a few days back. Angry over losing the job, Chandu allegedly took the boy away while he was sleeping in a room near the cow shed on Sunday night and smashed his head with stone.

Following the murder, Chandu took the bike of the shed owner and fled to Thivim from where he took a train to Kalyan. Police traced his movements and managed to nab him.

Forensic team and dog squad had visited the spot and the body was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). The Bicholim Police had formed two teams one consisting of PSI Sunil Patil and constables Laxman Naik and Prashant Gaonkar and the other consisting of PSI Viraj Dhauskar and head constables Nilesh Phugeri and Mayur Asolkar.
