Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that a total of 20 mining dumps in South Goa have been identified for e-auction in the first phase, marking a significant step forward in Goa’s ongoing efforts to revive its mining sector.
In addition to the fresh auction of mining dumps, the 31st e-auction of already extracted ore will also be conducted this month. Both auctions are scheduled to take place within August, Sawant confirmed.
The move is aimed at speeding up the monetisation of existing mineral resources while ensuring transparency and efficient resource management through the e-auction process.
Officials believe that these auctions will boost economic activity in the region and contribute to employment generation, particularly in areas impacted by the decade-long mining suspension.
Further details regarding the dates and modalities of the auctions are expected to be released shortly by the Directorate of Mines and Geology.
