20-Year-Old From Gadag Arrested for Stealing Gold Chain in Calangute

A 20-year-old woman from Gadag, Karnataka, was apprehended by Calangute Police for allegedly stealing a gold chain worth around ₹1.5 lakh from a residence in Khobrawado, Calangute.

The incident came to light when the homeowner reported the theft of a 16-gram gold chain from their house. Following the complaint, a formal case was registered, and investigations were promptly launched.

Using intelligence inputs and field surveillance, the police tracked down the suspect, a Gadag native, within a short period. She was taken into custody and questioned regarding the incident. During interrogation, the woman reportedly confessed to committing the theft.

The stolen chain, weighing 16 grams and valued at approximately ₹1.5 lakh, has been recovered. Authorities are continuing investigations to determine whether the suspect may be linked to similar thefts in the coastal region, which often experiences an increase in property crimes during the tourist season.
