MARGAO: Illegal constructions in the Davorlim comunidade land are being investigated by the Davorlim-Dicarpale panchayat.
At a recent inspection conducted by the Sarpanch, panch members and the police force, the panchayat found that close to 40 illegal houses and four illegal scrap yards had been built on comunidade land. This was in the area near the military camp. Panchayat officials said that in the cases where illegal structures were found, the residents did not have the necessary documents or permissions. The sarpanch stated that the panchayat will send a detailed report to the government and all appropriate authorities on the illegal settlement, following which action would be initiated accordingly.
It may be recalled that this issue had come up in the Davorlim gram sabha where the panchayat had vowed to take action.
Davorlim comunidade members had also raised concerns.
