Teams comprising the Mamlatdar staff, Taleigao Talathi and GSPCB officials were aided by police protection as they executed the sealing of the premises.

The establishments sealed were Christalina chicken and mutton shop run by Majid Bepari, Al Heena chicken and mutton shop run by Ayaj Bepari, Goan chicken and food stuff run by Majid Bepari, Al Shabab and Al Heena Kauser run by Ayaj Bepari.

These shops were sealed for violating the provisions of Section 33(A), read with Sections 25 and 26 of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and Section 31A, read with Section 21 of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act.

The authorities have warned that more such sealing drives would be carried out if other polluting units don't stop unlawful activities thereby compromising the environment.
