In the wake of a failed drug smuggling attempt and major security lapses at Colvale Central Jail, authorities have carried out a large-scale reshuffle of security personnel stationed at the facility.

A total of 81 India Reserve Battalion (IRB) staff posted at the jail have been transferred to the office of the DySP Traffic (North), while three additional IRB personnel have been shifted to the IRB Camp at Bordem.

To fill the vacuum, a fresh contingent of 81 personnel from Traffic North has been deployed to take over security duties at the high-security prison. The transfers are part of an immediate corrective response to enhance vigilance and restore order within the facility following the incident.

Senior officials indicated that further internal inquiries and possible disciplinary action could follow based on the findings of ongoing investigations into the smuggling attempt.
