AAP Leader Prasad Shahapurkar Slams Wasteful Spending on Tuem Hospital, Demands Immediate Opening

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Tuem Hospital Kruti Samitee spokesperson Advocate Prasad Shahapurkar has criticised the government over the new hospital building at Tuem, which remains unused despite more than ₹52 crore being spent on its construction.

Speaking in the Mandrem constituency, Shahapurkar said the facility has not been opened to the public even though substantial funds have already been exhausted. He pointed out that, despite lying idle, the building incurs monthly electricity bills of around ₹3.4 lakh, leading to further wastage of taxpayer money.

“This is nothing but a colossal misuse of public funds. Instead of benefitting people, the building has become a white elephant,” Shahapurkar said.

He demanded that authorities immediately operationalise a 100-bed hospital at the site so residents can finally access essential medical services.
