Shri Hutatma Babuli Narayan Gawas Memorial Government High School, Kasarpal-Bicholim, Celebrates Aashadi Ekadashi with Traditional Dindi Procession
Shri Hutatma Babuli Narayan Gawas Memorial Government High School in Kasarpal-Bicholim celebrated the sacred festival of Aashadi Ekadashi with devotion and cultural fervor by organizing a traditional Dindi procession. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 278 students, along with the school’s teaching and non-teaching staff, united in celebrating the spiritual significance of the day.
Aashadi Ekadashi, also known as Devshayani Ekadashi, marks the beginning of the holy Chaturmas period in the Hindu calendar and holds deep cultural importance in Goa and Maharashtra. The Dindi, a devotional march symbolizing the pilgrimage to Pandharpur, involves devotees walking in groups, singing bhajans, and chanting the name of Lord Vitthal.
The school began the celebration with a special morning assembly where teachers explained the significance of Aashadi Ekadashi and the tradition of the Dindi. The colorful procession, led by students dressed as saints and devotees, moved through the school campus and nearby areas. Students performed abhangas, chanted prayers, and played traditional instruments like lezim, cymbals, and drums, creating a deeply spiritual and energetic atmosphere.
Staff members ensured smooth coordination and encouraged students to participate with full devotion and discipline. The event served not only as a spiritual observance but also as a vibrant cultural experience, fostering a sense of community, teamwork, and cultural pride among the students.
The celebration concluded with a devotional aarti and the distribution of prasad to all present. The school's thoughtful initiative received warm appreciation from parents and local residents, who lauded the effort to preserve and promote the rich Goan and Maharashtrian traditions among the younger generation.
