PONDA: The United Tribal Associations' Alliance (UTAA) conferred the ‘Adivasi Bahumaan’ award to Adv Yatish A Naik during the commemoration of its 20th anniversary at the Goa Engineering College Ground, Farmagudi, on Sunday.
The event marked two decades of unwavering support for the rights and justice of the tribal community in Goa, celebrating the deep solidarity extended by individuals, organizations, and society at large.
Among the notable highlights of the event was the presentation of the first-ever ‘Adivasi Bahumaan’ award to Adv Yatish A Naik. A prominent legal figure known for his profound legal acumen and unwavering commitment to social justice, Adv Naik has been a steadfast ally of the tribal community in Goa. His contributions, marked by selfless service and advocacy, were deeply appreciated by UTAA, which has seen remarkable support from him in its long-standing struggles.
Speaking at the event, UTAA members expressed their deep gratitude for Adv Naik’s invaluable counsel and his role in amplifying the voices of the tribal community. The award, presented in loving memory of the martyrs and in honour of the activists and their families, recognized his enduring commitment to the cause.
The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Govind Gaude, and other notable leaders. The event was a testament to the collective efforts of society in advancing the rights of Goa’s tribal community and a celebration of the pivotal role that Adv Yatish Naik has played in this ongoing journey.
