After Vasco Horror, Goa Sees 7 More Schoolgirl Assault Cases—CM Reveals in House
Published on

The Goa government has recorded seven cases of sexual assault involving girl students in schools over the past five years, according to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, who also holds the Home portfolio. Speaking in the Legislative Assembly on July 22, 2025, the Chief Minister detailed that two cases occurred in 2021, three in 2023, and two in 2024. No cases were reported in 2020, 2022, or up to June 30, 2025. Information regarding action taken against the accused has been provided in annexures submitted to the House.

The data comes against the backdrop of the infamous 2013 Vasco rape case, where a seven-year-old girl was assaulted inside a school toilet, prompting a statewide outcry. Since then, the Goa government has implemented a series of child safety initiatives aimed at preventing such incidents in schools.
