Through this letter, I wish to draw the attention of the Goa Government authorities—particularly the Aldona Village Panchayat Sarpanch, our Aldona Congress MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira, and the Public Works Department (PWD) engineers—towards the deplorable condition of the internal public road at Naikawaddo, Aldona, leading from Hacil Mansion to House No. 887/L.
This road has been in a miserable state for years and gets flooded every time it rains heavily. The accumulated mud mixes with rainwater, creating quicksand-like conditions where even a cycle gets stuck. Vehicles frequently skid, two-wheelers are at risk of accidents, and shrubs and grass growing in the middle of the road attract snakes and other reptiles, posing serious danger to residents.
Despite repeated representations since 2021 to the Panchayat and successive Aldona MLAs, no remedial action has been taken. This road was built around 15 years ago, and though all surrounding internal public roads have been hot-mixed recently, this one continues to be neglected for reasons best known to the authorities. The excuse given earlier—that a hot-mix paver machine cannot access the road—cannot justify leaving residents to suffer indefinitely.
The potholes, loose gravel, and flooding are damaging vehicles and imposing unnecessary financial burdens on citizens. It is high time the authorities clear the accumulated mud, level the surface, and urgently hot-mix this internal public road. Residents of Naikawaddo deserve safe and usable roads like everyone else.
We earnestly appeal to the concerned authorities to take up this matter on priority and provide lasting relief.
