MARGAO: All the police complaints lodged against Subhash Velingkar at various police stations in Salcete have been forwarded to the Bicholim Police Station for investigation, according to Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Santosh Dessai.

He assured that extensive police arrangements have been made, and no untoward incidents have been reported, stating that the situation remains peaceful.

Protesters had filed complaints at Colva, Maina-Curtorim, Fatorda, Cuncolim, and Margao Police Stations. SDPO Dessai, recently promoted to Superintendent of Police, clarified that no new offences have been registered in Salcete, and the complaints are being handled in Bicholim. In response to the ongoing protests, security in Margao and surrounding areas has been significantly increased. Additional police forces were brought in from Panjim and the Coastal Police Station, with two platoons of the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB)—one male and one female—deployed. Extra personnel from Cuncolim, Maina-Curtorim, and other areas in South Goa have also been mobilised to maintain peace and prevent any escalation.

Superintendent of Police (South Goa) Sunita Sawant met with the protesters, assuring them that the process to arrest Velingkar had begun. Police teams have been formed to search for Velingkar, and his residence is under surveillance.
