PANJIM: The Mopa Airport Police booked a 51-year-old US citizen for allegedly carrying a satellite phone when he was about to travel to Delhi by flight.
According to police, an Iridium Satellite phone was detected during screening of the hand bag of the accused identified as Brian Erich Genz from Kenosha, WI USA. Brian was about to travel to Delhi from the Manohar International Airport, Mopa.
When questioned, the accused could neither produce a licence nor show permissions from the competent authority to carry the instrument which is prohibited in India.
The incident occurred on Friday, November 8. An offence has been registered under section 3 read with section 6 (1A) of the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act 1933 and the case is being investigated by PSI Swapnil Kinalkar of Mopa Airport Police Station.
