A 20-year-old student of BITS Pilani’s Zuarinagar campus in Goa, Krishna Kasera from Lucknow, was found dead by suicide on Thursday morning. Verna Police arrived at the scene around 10:30 am, conducted a preliminary inquiry, and registered a case of unnatural death under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation is being led by PI Anand Shirodkar and DySP Gurudas Kadam.
This is the second such incident at the BITS Pilani Goa campus in the past three months. On March 5, 2025, 20-year-old student Atharva Desai was found dead in his hostel room. According to the institute, fellow students alerted authorities after noticing Desai was unresponsive and his door was locked from the inside. An internal investigation committee was formed, and the police probe is still ongoing.
These repeated tragedies have certainly raised serious concerns among parents and students, particularly regarding the adequacy of the college’s mental health services and overall campus safety. While the administration claims to offer counselling and psychological support, many question the accessibility and effectiveness of these services.
