Assembly Focuses on Vital TCP Queries Following Speaker’s Signal

A recent development in the Goa Legislative Assembly has brought clarity to procedural questions involving the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Department. Despite objections from TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane, who had cited the sub judice status of certain matters to avoid responding, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has permitted both starred and unstarred questions to proceed.

This ruling establishes that Assembly questions can be admitted and addressed even when related matters are under judicial consideration, ensuring that legislative scrutiny continues without compromising ongoing legal processes.

Responses to several key questions have been scheduled for August 7, 2025. These include Postponed LAQ No. 1C, along with Starred Questions 2A, 3B, 20B, and 20C. Additionally, Unstarred Questions 38, 57, 62, 94, 96, 127, and 134 will also be addressed on the same day.

Meanwhile, Starred Question 3A has been deferred to the next Assembly session, allowing more time for preparation or resolution of related issues. Furthermore, Unstarred LAQ 152 has been reassigned to the Industries Department, reflecting a change in portfolio responsibility and indicating that the subject matter falls outside the TCP Department’s jurisdiction.
