The Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Baga has come under the scanner following multiple complaints of pollution in the area. In response, a joint inspection was carried out by the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB), the Health Department, and officials from the Calangute Panchayat.
The inspection aimed to assess the functioning and environmental compliance of the STP after residents and local stakeholders raised concerns over foul odour and possible leakage or untreated discharge into nearby water bodies.
Authorities have collected samples and are expected to submit a detailed report outlining any lapses or violations. The findings will help determine if further action or corrective measures are needed to address pollution concerns in the popular tourist belt.
Locals have urged swift intervention, citing public health risks and environmental degradation in the area.
