Bastora Panchayat Issues Show Cause Notice to 27 Illegal Commercial Premises Along Major Highway

The Bastora Panchayat has issued a show cause notice to 27 illegal commercial establishments situated along the road between Tar Junction and Moira Bridge, which abut major highways. The owners of these properties have been asked to respond within three days, explaining why their illegal businesses should not be sealed.

The notice, issued by Panchayat Secretary Smita Parab, was made under Section 71 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994. The move follows a meeting held on March 28 by the Panchayat body under the leadership of Sarpanch Rakhi Naroji. During the meeting, discussions took place regarding a letter from the Director of Panchayats about a High Court order concerning illegal structures along the roadside. As a result of this, a resolution was passed to issue the show cause notices to the owners of the illegal structures.

This action reflects the Panchayat's efforts to enforce legal compliance and remove unauthorized commercial activities along key roadways, in accordance with court orders and regulations.
