Better facilities needed at Chinchinim Village Panchayat

Better facilities needed at Chinchinim
Village Panchayat
Published on

The Village Panchayat of Deussua-Chinchinim is located in a dilapidated building and that too, it is not on the ground floor, thus making it terribly inconvenient for senior citizens to access it.

Sarpanch after Sarpanch has worn the crown and got booted out, yet none seems to have learnt any lesson. It is a disgrace that this very office that is the Licensing Authority for all other constructions in Chinchinim and Deussua villages, is itself located in poorly maintained, crumbling premises.

It appears that the ward members have no desire to either improve the condition of their current office nor to construct a new Panchayat Ghar in the property that had been acquired 12 years ago for this very purpose that lies idle till date. Can the Panchayat at least donate this land to the Health Department so that we can get a full-fledged hospital for the people of Velim and Cuncolim?

The need for better health facilities will always be there since the health of the people is deteriorating as the Chinchinim Panchayat has abdicated its responsibilities vis a vis regular garbage collection and disposal, cleaning and maintenance of gutters and drains, eliminating open piggy-latrines, etc. It is the bounden duty of the panchayat to ensure that all these disease preventive measures are in place, to address our health problems, yet they choose to look the other way.
