Bhuipal’s ACGL-BBD Workers Rally Against Sudden Job Cuts

Workers at the ACGL-BBD company in Bhuipal Honda staged a protest at the facility’s entrance after the sudden termination of around 50 local contract workers. The protesters accused the company and its contractor of favouring migrant labourers while sidelining local employees, leading to arbitrary dismissals.

According to the workers, many locals employed through contractors for the ACGL-BBD project have faced harassment for months, including being sent home without proper work assignments. The latest layoffs, reportedly due to “reduced work availability,” have hit families hard—particularly with the Ganesh Chaturthi festival around the corner.

Protesters claimed the contractor has been systematically replacing local skilled labour with migrant workers, causing severe financial strain in the community. While some have already resigned in frustration, others remain in their roles despite difficult conditions at home.

RG party leader Manoj Parab visited the site to meet the aggrieved workers and extended his support. He warned company management and the contractor against continuing such practices, threatening stronger agitation if the alleged injustice persisted. Parab also called on local representatives to step in and safeguard the rights of local labourers in the Honda and Pisurle industrial estates.

In response, the contractor said the layoffs were unavoidable, citing decreased work orders and an excess workforce. He claimed financial losses had forced the company to make the decision, although workers remain unconvinced by the explanation.
