PANJIM: The Bicholim Police on Friday booked former Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Goa chief Subhash Velingkar for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by making comments on St Francis Xavier.
According to police, the accused with malicious intentions gave maligning speech at Azad Maidan at Bicholim against St Francis Xavier outraging the religious feelings and insulting religious beliefs of the complainant, the entire class of his religion and others.
Velingkar has been booked under section 299 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) of 2023 on a complaint filed by Velim MLA Cruz Silva, police said, adding further investigation is in progress.
