PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Adv Yatish Naik on Monday claimed that many arrests have been made by the Goa Police in cash for jobs scam and the State government is very serious on the issue.

Addressing a press conference, he said, "Government is firm that nobody should be spared and nobody will be spared. Police are committed to reach to the root of the scam. The first FIR was at the instance of the government. That has given confidence to the people who have been cheated to come and file complaints. This has resulted in filing of subsequent FIRs and action is being taken."

On the allegations of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Amit Patkar against Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane, Yatish Naik said everybody knows what Patkar wanted to say and whom he was referring to.

"Your allegations were in that context (cash for job scam) and today you are saying something else. The fact of the matter is that allegations were made against the government and the minister on the basis of a forged document. When the document is forged, how can you make allegations against the government?," he said.

"It is not nice for the opposition to speak against the government and the minister incorrectly. You cannot peddle falsities. You have to behave responsibly which means you should make the statements which are correct," he said.

The BJP spokesperson pointed out that the State Congress President had named the department and the portfolio held by Vishwajit Rane and now saying that he mentioned only Vishwajit and not the minister.
