A male body was discovered in the gap of a pillar of the New Mandovi Bridge near the Divja Circle in Panjim. The discovery was made at around 1:10 PM when the fire fighting services received a call reporting a floating body in the Mandovi River. Upon investigation, authorities found that the body was lodged in a gap in the bridge's pillar.
The deceased is believed to be a man in his early 40s, and the body was in a decomposed state, indicating that the person may have died approximately four days ago. At the scene, a bag was also found on the pillar, suggesting that the individual may have been using the space to sleep on a regular basis.
An investigation is currently underway to determine the cause of death and identify the individual. Authorities are examining all possibilities, including whether the person had been living in the area or had encountered foul play.
