A dramatic rescue at Vagator-Anjuna early Tuesday morning saved the lives of four fishermen after their boat overturned in rough seas.

Raj Chodankar, 25, from Siolim, along with his three colleagues—Akash (23), Anjuli Ekka (25), and Sanjay Sekka (24) from Chhattisgarh—were struggling to stay afloat when their fishing vessel capsized amid strong waves. Raj managed to call friends for help, prompting immediate action.

Locals from Guddem Siolim, Brijesh Naik, Utkarsha Khorjuvekar, Vaibhav Khorjuvekar, and Sarvesh Chodankar, rushed to the site, joining lifeguards, police, and Mapusa fire services. Braving the rough waters, the rescue team successfully pulled all four fishermen to safety, averting a potential tragedy.

Authorities praised the swift coordination and courage of the rescuers, highlighting the importance of community vigilance along Goa’s coastline.
